Boxing Tidbits

Victory Sports and Entertainment fighters Zachary ‘Zungry’ Ochoa and Oscar Moreno return to action tonight in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ochoa (19-1, 7 KO’s) will face former world title challanger, Daulis Prescott.  Prescott challenged the then undefeated Nicholas Walters for the WBA Featherweight title in 2012.

 

Moreno (6-0, 5 KO’s) will face Dakota Laster in 4 round Flyweight bout.

 

Top Rank has signed blue chip prospect Josue Vargas to a promotional contract.  The 20 year old Vargas (11-1, 7 KO’s) competes in the Jr. Welterweight division.  His sole loss was a disqualification.

Vargas was signed with Mayweather Promotions but released earlier this year due to inactivity.  The Puerto Rican was 72-8 as an amateur and signed by ProBox Management at just 17 years old.  Vargas had wins over Shakur Stevenson and Richardson Hitchens in the amateurs.  Al Haymon and PBC were pivotal in Vargas’ early career success.

Now the Bronx, NY product will compete under the world’s most successful boxing promotional banner, Top Rank.

 

Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing have signed Diego Pacheco to an exclusive promotional contract.  Pacheco was a 8-time National Champion and the 2018 USA Junior Olympic Nationals Champion.  Pacheco will be featured on Hearn’s and Matchrooms DAZN platform.

The 17 year old Pacheco of Los Angeles will compete in the MIddleweight division.
