In an Instagram post dated September 10, former WBC Junior Middleweight champion Jermell Charlo (32-1, 16 KOs) teased that his rematch with the title’s current holder, Tony Harrison (28-2, 21 KOs), is scheduled for December 21. Almost exactly one year to the day he suffered his first career loss and lost his WBC title to Harrison.
The two were originally scheduled to rematch on June 23rd but Harrison suffered an injury in training camp. Jorge Cota (28-4-0) of Mexico stepped in as a replacement opponent and lost by KO in the third round to Charlo. Harrison has been sidelined and makes his return to the ring following a 364-day layoff partially due to injury. No date, location or TV network has been announced as of now.
