Real Deal Boxing Returns To Louisville July 28

Louisville’s Davis Arena hosts a Real Deal Boxing event Saturday, July 28 featuring a WBA Inter-Continental Super Lightweight title fight

Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing returns to Louisville, Kentucky next Saturday night with its Real Deal Boxing Showcase Series. The promotional organization treated boxing fans to a full night of live action at the KFC Yum! Center back on April 27, in an evening that featured the opening round of the José Sulaiman WBC World Invitational. In addition to the bouts for the 8-man field of the Welterweight tournament, several thrilling preliminary bouts helped to push the action well past midnight.

The most ardent fans that made it to the event’s finale received a surprise as last-man-in, No. 8 seed Francisco “Chia’ Santana, returned from contemplating retirement to upset the tourney’s No. 1 Felix Diaz in a stirring display of determination. Three of the five judges used for the fight had it 98-92 in Santana’s favor.

This Saturday the most high profile bout retains the worldly feel of the late-April event, as 27-year-old undefeated Super Lightweight Batyr Akhmedov, a Russian southpaw, faces veteran Ismael Barosso (20-2-2, 19 KOs) for the WBA Inter-Continental Super Lightweight title. Akhmedov will try to overcome Barosso’s ring experience to keep his perfect record intact and secure his fifth win.

Also in action Saturday, Ohio Super Featherweight Alycia Baumgardner (6-0, 4 KOs) – Ring Magazine’s 2018 Female Prospect of The Year – is scheduled for eight rounds against Greece’s Christina Linardatou (9-1, 5 KOs). Fans may recall Baumgardner as the winner of the only women’s bout at the KFC Yum! Center back in April. She earned a split decision over game southpaw Kirstie Simmons, as the two women displayed some great skill in a well-contested bout.

Two more familiar faces, fans only saw briefly in their April appearances, are explosive Welterweight Janelson Bocachica (10-0, 7 KOs) from Detroit, Michigan, and 6-foot 4-inch St. Louis Cruiserweight prospect Joshua Temple (6-0, 5 KOs). Both men blasted out their opponents inside the first round, wildly impressing fans with their fierce displays of punching power. Bocachica, 19, will face Kansas’ Noel Esqueda (8-5-2, 6 KOs), and Temple squares off against Alexander Brunson (2-1, 1 KO) a 39-year-old from Tallahassee, Florida.

Hometown Super Featherweight Carlos Dixon (3-0, 1 KO) hurt Aaron Hollis several times en route to a six-round split decision in his last fight – another entertaining bout in April at the KFC Yum! Center. In order to retain his undefeated status the 21-year-old will need to get past Darel Harris, 29, from Sarasota, Florida.

The evening’s sixth bout features Wilfredo Flores (6-0, 2 KOs) from Dunkirk, New York versus Leonardo Kenon (3-4, 1 KO) from Quincy, Florida, for six rounds of Lightweight action.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. ET and Davis Arena is located at 4400 Shepherdsville Rd, Louisville, KY 40218. Check out ticket information here.
